Election day is a month away and the Pima County Public Library is hosting meetings to help inform the community about upcoming ballot measures.
The meetings will be Fri., Oct. 5, at Joel D. Valdez Main Library and Sat., Oct. 6, at Murphy-Wilmot Branch Library. They are free and will cover the nine proposed ballot measures.
The League of Women Voters is presenting information on the measures intended to be impartial so people can make their own interpretations when going to the polls.
The 2012 ballot propositions are:
Proposition 114 Crime Victims Protection Act
Proposition 115 Judicial Selection
Proposition 116 Small Business Job Creation Act
Proposition 117 Property Tax Assessed Valuations
Proposition 118 Permanent State Land Fund
Proposition 119 State Trust Lands
Proposition 120 State Sovereignty
Proposition 121 Open Elections/Open Government
Proposition 204 Quality Education and Jobs
Also beginning this month, the Arizona Secretary of State’s office will hold ballot measure town hall meetings in Southern Arizona. This includes Tucson, Sierra Vista, the Tohono O’odham Nation and Nogales.
